Domain Name Ownership and Transfers

Under normal circumstances I don't think that it would be necessary to make this statement, but I've heard of some unscrupulous hosting companies holding customer's domain names hostage. Apparently it is an attempt to keep the customer with them.

Purchasing Domain Names

Nowse Hosting is not a registrar of domain names, but we do offer a service to purchase domain names in our clients behalf. Because we are not a registrar we must pay the same costs as you would have to pay for any domain names that we purchase.

Some basic information:

  • The price for a standard .com, .org, or .net is about $10 at our registrars.

  • We charge a fee of $5 over the charges of the registar.

  • Unless otherwise requested we will modify the DNS information to point it at your account at Nowse-hosting.com.

  • When a domain is purchased it is automatically placed under the control of the account that purchased it. In this case it would be in a Nowse Hosting account until you request a transfer

  • Some registrars charge a fee per transfer and that cost would be your responsibility. If you create an account with the same registrar that we purchased the domain from there usually isn't a fee involved.
Domain Ownership

In the event that Nowse Hosting purchases a domain name in your behalf, the domain name is your property. The whois information that specifies ownership will be in your name. At anytime you may transfer or modify the details of the domain name providing that you have paid us for the domain name and that your account is in good standing.
